Rabbit hunting poker shows the cards a fold left undealt

Rabbit hunting poker means showing the board cards that would have come after the other players folded. The Global Poker Federation behavior page bans that runout, and a 2022 Clubs New Zealand rule does the same. A live PokerStars control did not load on 20 October 2026, so that room's switch is not published. The stub is not a refund.

What rabbit hunting poker shows after a fold

Hold'em deals a flop, a turn, and a river only while at least two players remain. If everyone else folds, the hand is over and the undealt stub stays down.

Running those cards anyway is the look called rabbit hunting poker, and these sheets ban it. The cards were next in the deck, but they were not a finished board, because the betting ended first.

The Poker hub holds the street notes. Hold'em street order is the flop, the turn, and the river when the hand actually continues.

The first lesson on the deal is the shorter start if the streets themselves are new. A fold ends the claim on later cards.

A finished hand is not a preview of the stub. The next cards were an order in the shuffle, and showing them does not move chips already pushed to a winner.

Rooms that ban the look are protecting that winner from a story, and they are protecting the pace of the next deal. Extra cards plus a table argument are time a tournament clock does not give back.

Neither sheet prints a required burn for the moment after a fold. If the room card is silent on the burn, that step is not published.

The federation penalty for running the board

The Global Poker Federation behavior page, at gpf.poker/about/rules/behavior, says this runout is not allowed. A dealer who engages in it is subject to a penalty.

The page's reason is fairness, not superstition. It gives the player who wins by representing a nut flush, only to have the ace appear during the runout.

That ace was not dealt in the hand. Showing it makes the winner look lucky in a way the bets never tested, and it can embarrass the player who folded.

The same paragraph says the practice slows the game and is pointless. A separate penalties block on that page says infractions may mean sitting out three to five hands, up to expulsion.

The rabbit paragraph does not pin the runout to that exact band. A dollar fine is not published.

A national club rule that stops the stub

Clubs New Zealand tournament rules, version 1.0, dated 7 March 2022, print rule 28 in one sentence. Rabbit hunting, defined as revealing cards that would have come if the hand had not ended, is not allowed.

The sentence does not name a fine, a missed-blind penalty, or a clock. Rule 29, next to it, is about calling for a clock, and it is a different rule.

Rule 28 sits between deck changes and that clock. It is a one-line ban, not a chapter on strategy, and it does not say the deck was never in an order.

It says you do not get to see that order once a fold has awarded the pot. Players who want the river for closure are asking for a hand the bets already closed.

We did not sit a Clubs New Zealand event. The PDF is the text, and a host who ignores rule 28 is outside what that sheet allows.

Four private cards and a must-use-two rule still ends when the last opponent folds. Extra hole cards do not create a right to see the river.

A room switch that did not load

We asked the live PokerStars site for a rabbit-hunt control and for the March 2024 client note that search results describe. Both URLs returned a FanDuel homepage, not a poker setting.

That means a current on or off switch for that room is not published in this note. Do not treat a forum memory as the cashier's rule.

An archived tools policy is a different page, and it is not a runout setting. This article does not borrow it.

If your room's card is silent, ask the floor. Silence is not a printed yes.

Why the unseen ace feels unfair

The federation's example is a made point. A player bets as if they hold the nut flush, everyone else folds, and the pot is already theirs under the rules.

If the dealer then turns an ace that would have completed someone else's flush, the table argues a hand that never had a call. The winner followed the rules and still gets a story told against them.

The folded player feels the ace was owed, and it was not. The card was unseen because the betting ended, and rabbit hunting poker does not reopen the pot.

Pace is the practical half of the ban. Turning two extra cards after every fold adds a conversation to every taken pot, and that conversation cannot change the award.

The federation calls the practice pointless for that reason. The information arrives only after the result is final, so it can change a mood and it cannot change a stack.

An ante and one draw has no community river at all. Asking for the next five cards after a fold is the same wish in a different game. The four-card low draw is another private-card game, and a fold there also ends the hand.

Dollar pots that do not move

These pictures price a finished hand. They do not return chips.

Example 1: the pot is $30, and a $15 flop bet takes it when the second player folds. The turn and the river stay down. The $30 is already awarded, and an unseen card does not move it.

Example 2: the folder had put $10 in before that bet. The $10 is lost. A card that would have paired them is a story, not a refund.

Example 3: two $50 Coinflip stakes on this site make a $100 pot, the fee is $5, and the winner receives $95. There is no stub to flip after a forfeit. We did not time a cash-out.

A player table next to this runout

A banned runout is a procedure rule. It is not a house edge, and neither sheet prints one.

How PvP compares: Poker here is a table between players, and a fold ends the hand without a courtesy runout printed on this page. Fairness recomputes a settled round that publishes a seed. That check does not audit a federation dealer, and it does not show cards a fold skipped.

Slott takes 10% of a winning pot. Purple and Silver roulette keep about a 7.88% edge after the 5% win fee. Neither game has a rabbit card.

Before you ask a dealer to keep dealing

Read the card in the room you are in. Two sheets are not every room.

  • [ ] Confirm the hand is over before you ask for more cards.
  • [ ] Read the room card for a runout rule.
  • [ ] If the card matches the federation page, do not ask.
  • [ ] If the card matches rule 28, do not ask.
  • [ ] Leave a silent card as not published, and ask the floor.
  • [ ] Do not treat an unseen ace as money you were owed.
  • [ ] Do not invent a software switch a page did not load.
  • [ ] Keep a loss stop that survives a folded pot.
  • [ ] Skip the game if you are under 18.
  • [ ] If the stories become a chase, call 1-800-GAMBLER.

The helpline page we opened prints 1-800-MY-RESET and says that line is not a crisis service. A crisis is 911 or 988.

Who should leave the table alone

Do not play if you are under 18, or under a higher local age. Do not play where the game is illegal. Do not stake rent or money with a due date.

A folded pot is finished. Watching the stub to feel less wrong is how a small loss becomes the next buy-in. The two sheets we opened call the look unfair, slow, or simply not allowed.

This page is an editorial note. We did not open a card-room account, and we did not time a cash-out.

Cash-out minimum on this site is $20 in BTC, USDC, or ETH. If the session stops being optional, call 1-800-GAMBLER and open responsible gambling.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

It shows the board cards that would have come if the other players had not folded. Rabbit hunting poker is that look, and both sheets we opened treat the hand as already over. The flop, turn, and river exist only while the hand is live. A fold awards the pot without those cards. Seeing them later does not rewrite the bets.

The Global Poker Federation says the look is unfair, slow, and pointless. Its example is a winner who represented a nut flush, then an ace appears that nobody called. Clubs New Zealand rule 28 bans revealing cards that would have come if the hand had not ended. Neither line prints a dollar fine. A dealer on the federation page is subject to a penalty, and that size is not published.

No. The live pages we requested for a PokerStars control returned a FanDuel homepage, not a setting. A current on or off switch for that room is not published here. Do not fill the blank from memory or from a clip. If a help page you open yourself prints a control, that page is the source. This note does not invent one.

No. Once the last opponent folds, the pot is awarded under the rules those sheets describe. A card that would have paired the folder does not return the chips. The federation's worry runs the other way: the winner can be made to look lucky by a card nobody called. Either story leaves the chips where the fold put them.

Anyone under 18, anyone under a higher local age, and anyone in a place where the game is illegal. Anyone using rent or money with a due date should stay out. Anyone who needs the next unseen card to feel even is chasing, and the stub does not owe them a pot. Call 1-800-GAMBLER if the session is no longer optional. The helpline page also prints 1-800-MY-RESET and says it is not a crisis line.

A courtesy runout shows cards after the bets are done, and two sheets ban that show. A player pot on this site is a priced game against other people, with a fee you can read before you sit. Coinflip takes 5% of the pot, so two $50 stakes pay the winner $95. Fairness recomputes a settled round that publishes a seed. It does not paint the cards a fold skipped.
