CS2 practice commands: configure local drills, then reset
CS2 practice commands change a local session or a server you control. Open the developer console, load the intended map and use the practice controls supported by that session. Server-only or cheats-protected commands do not become legitimate competitive settings just because a config file contains them.

Part of our FPS & aim series. New to the topic? Start with FPS games for money: what winning actually pays.
Begin with the built-in workflow
Enable the developer console in game settings, then open a local practice session on the map you need. Use the game’s available practice controls for warmup, ammunition and grenade rehearsal first. If you use a console command, enter one at a time and read its response; unknown-command output means the pasted list did not work as claimed.
Pick a CS2 aim map or a native map intentionally. Save personal controls separately from server-changing commands.
Understand common local command roles
| Command family | Purpose | Permission boundary |
|---|---|---|
| sv_cheats | Enables protected local practice features | Host/server controls it |
| bot_kick | Removes practice bots | Host/server permissions apply |
| mp_restartgame | Restarts the current game | Server-side setting |
| sv_infinite_ammo | Changes ammunition behavior in practice | Protected/server-controlled |
These names describe local practice tools, not a tested one-click config for every patch. Check the current console’s help and completion before relying on an argument value. Do not carry a cheats-enabled drill into a wagered match.
Build one useful drill
For first shots, hold the same distance and reset after each miss. For utility, inspect where the smoke lands from both sides, then repeat without a trajectory aid. For recoil, compare a short burst with a longer spray at the same wall.
Mirage smokes explains the coverage checks; spray patterns explains why recoil and spread should not be confused.
Restore the normal environment
Restart into a normal session after testing, confirm your intended configuration and avoid distributing a mixed “FPS boost” file that also changes practice rules. Launch options are a different layer.
These commands do not work in PvPStrike, whose authoritative server decides legal inputs. The FPS topic links the relevant game-specific instructions.
Keep controls and community content separate
For key assignments and current command-policy cautions, use CS2 binds. For installation, loading and server provenance, use CS2 Workshop maps. Surf, bhop and KZ concerns community movement practice, whose server rules need not match competitive movement.
