CS2 launch options: start clean and add only a known fix
CS2 launch options are arguments Steam passes when starting the game. They are useful for a specific startup or compatibility need, but a copied list is not an FPS upgrade. Remove unexplained flags, save the old list, and compare a clean launch before adding anything.

Find and preserve the current list
In Steam, open the game’s Properties and locate Launch Options. Copy the existing text into a note before removing it. Start the game with an empty list, then compare the same practice route. If a specific issue returns, restore one documented option and repeat.
Keep graphics settings fixed during this experiment. Otherwise a new driver, resolution change and flag removal can all be mistaken for the same improvement.
Why common promises are weak
| Promise | Missing evidence | Better test |
|---|---|---|
| Force more threads | Your actual CPU and engine scheduling | Clean launch versus one change |
| Raise process priority | Background workload and frame spikes | Repeat under the same load |
| Remove all delay | Network and display timing | Separate frame and network telemetry |
Do not use a flag merely because it appears in an old screenshot. Valve's video recommendations and telemetry are better starting points than a universal boost percentage.
A special case: third-party software
Valve documents that allowing third-party software changes Trusted Mode behavior. That is a compatibility tradeoff, not an anti-cheat bypass recommendation or a free performance fix. Read the anti-cheat guide before changing how external software interacts with the process.
If an overlay is the problem, first test with that overlay closed. Avoid downloading a replacement executable or a supposed optimizer.
Separate startup from practice commands
A console command entered inside local practice is not the same as a Steam startup argument. Use practice commands for that workflow. PvPStrike runs in a browser and ignores Steam flags; its controls belong to the FPS topic.
