CS2 spray patterns: control recoil without ignoring spread
CS2 spray patterns describe repeatable recoil movement during sustained fire. Recoil compensation and bullet spread are different: moving the mouse against recoil does not remove every source of inaccuracy. Practise at a fixed distance and compare short bursts with long sprays before trying transfers between targets.

Three firing choices
| Technique | Useful task | Main cost |
|---|---|---|
| Tap | A deliberate first-shot correction | Waiting for the next accurate attempt |
| Short burst | Several controlled rounds | Recoil still accumulates |
| Sustained spray | Close, continuous engagement | Longer control and recovery demand |
Valve's historical recovery explanation documents why short and long firing sequences can be tuned separately. It is not a current numerical CS2 spray chart. Exact tuning can change with updates.
A wall drill that reveals the error
Fire a short sequence without correction at a clear wall, reset fully, then repeat while applying compensation. Hold distance and stance constant. Compare the center of the group, its width and the sequence you can still control. If the opening shots are already off-center, inspect pre-aim and movement before learning a longer pattern.
Use counter-strafing to isolate the stop. The aim routine combines these tasks without forcing every engagement into a spray.
Avoid copying an unlabeled pattern
A chart should name the game, weapon and version. An old CSGO diagram may be useful historical context but does not verify the current CS2 patch. Do not use the data below as a CS2 weapon reference: it is generated from PvPStrike's own combat functions.
In our browser game, holding the AK fires automatically. Tapping or releasing a short burst creates recovery time; changing to a pistol does not make the AK a burst-mode weapon.
Review the decision, not just the recoil trace
If you spray while exposed to two angles, a tighter recoil path may not solve the duel. Reduce the number of simultaneous threats, pre-aim at the likely head position, and choose whether another burst is worth staying exposed.
Continue with 1v1 strategy, CS2 settings and the FPS topic.
PvPStrike's actual rifle tuning
Generated from the current game's damage and recoil functions. These are PvPStrike values, not Valve's CS2 weapon statistics. Assumes 100 health and a fresh vest; no damage through cover.
| Hit area | Unarmored damage | Fresh-vest damage | Hits at that damage to reach 100 |
|---|---|---|---|
| head | 34 | 34 | 3 |
| chest | 34 | 26 | 4 |
| stomach | 30 | 23 | 5 |
| legs | 20 | 20 | 5 |
Recoil sequence reset after a three-shot burst: 280 ms. After a long spray: 650 ms. Releasing fire does not immediately erase recoil; both the Police M4A1-S and Terrorist AK-47 remain automatic when held and use the same damage values.
Mixed hit locations and depleted armor change the result. Use the winner recap to compare hits and damage, not a promised win rate.
